The Traffic Improvement Association (TIA) is a non-profit traffic safety organization in Oakland County, Michigan.  TIA was organized in 1967 by community leaders to address adverse traffic safety issues facing Oakland County.  Since that time, TIA has evolved into a full service traffic safety partner with member communities in Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne Counties.

The mission of the Traffic Improvement Association shall be to facilitate engineering, education, and enforcement programs that reduce human and economic losses caused by traffic crashes and congestion.

TIA's customer list includes 70 member communities, the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC), 50 law enforcement agencies, 15 district courts, 28 school districts, various state and national traffic safety organizations, the Michigan Department of Transportation, Michigan Department of State Police, Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning, Transportation Research Board, Federal Highway Administration, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, AAA Michigan, businesses, and citizens.

From its beginning, TIA has developed a comprehensive traffic safety management system that focuses on the 3 E's of safety: Engineering, Education, and Enforcement.
